COMMUNITY MINISTRY

It is the goal and desire of Fruit Cove Baptist Church to not only become followers of Christ but to extend the hand of Christ to those in our community. We offer several opportunities for service weekly that allow you to demonstrate Christ's love for others. Some of these opportunities are:

Boy Scout Troop #474

It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to serve others by helping develop values in young people and to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. The values they strive to encourage are based upon those found in the Scout Oath and Law. Fruit Cove is proud to sponsor this troop. They meet on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. during the school year. For more information on becoming involved, contact the church office. For more information on the boy scouts you can visit www.scouting.org.

Friends of Barnabas
The Friends of Barnabas was started to help people find fulfilling employment. They can help build a network of contacts which is how most jobs are found. This ministry works with local employers to learn of new job opportunities. We also introduce potential employees to professionals who can help them to write a more compelling resume, learn more effective interviewing techniques, and other skills to further enhance their appeal to employees.  Click here to view their web page (www.friendsofbarnabas.org).

Needle Workers
Women in this ministry fellowship together as they do needle work projects. They make receiving blankets for First Coast Women's Services, turbans and small pillows for the American Cancer Society, pillows for children at Wolfson's Children's Hospital, and knitted caps for the Port Ministry. Although sewing, knitting and crocheting are a plus, there are plenty of other jobs like stuffing pillows, ironing, and cutting fabric that those non-sewing inclined can do. The women meet the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 in the morning at the home of one of our church members. Call the church office for the number.

Nurses / Health Ministry
The Nurses / Health ministry promote health and wellness for individuals and for families and to promote fellowship among the nursing community of Fruit Cove Baptist and our area. They provide blood pressure testing the last Sunday of each month after the 9:30 worship service and organize health events. Health events in the past have included blood drives, CPR classes, and Fit 4 classes.
